The Northern Ohio Perennials Society hosts a variety of events throughout the year.
Evening Programs
Our evening programs offer information on a wide range of topics such as plant selection and care, environmentally friendly control for insects and plant diseases, and garden design. Evening programs are held at the Cleveland Botanical Garden in January, February March, September and October. A congenial social hour with refreshments follows each meeting giving members the opportunity to share knowledge, experiences, successes and failures.

- Lecture and Demonstration by Four NOPS Members including “Seed Starting” by Bobby Katzman, “Pruning” by Lois Rose, “Growing Alpines” by Ed Godleski and “Garden Mapping” by Leanne Levitt
- Lecture by Jeffrey Davis, “Fantastic Foliage”
- Lecture by Jim Chatfield, OSU, “Dastardly Dilemmas and Debilitating Diptera”

Garden Tours
Free, members-only garden tours are held on Sundays, 2 to 5 PM throughout June, July and August. Generally there are three to five gardens in fairly close proximity scheduled for visitation on a given Sunday. Gardens for visiting include NOPS member gardens as well as other local gardens through cooperation with nearby garden organizations. When gardens from another organization are included, their members are invited to visit the NOPS gardens. Approximately 30 gardens were included in our Summer 2009 schedule.
Spring and Fall Plant Exchanges
Members-only plant exchanges are held each year in Spring and Fall. This is an exceptional opportunity for our members to acquire and share well-tended common and unusual perennial divisions. Tickets, which are provided for qualifying plants brought in, can be used to acquire other members’ plant donations. Members with no plants to share can purchase plants at a modest cost.
